Wizkid has been in a league of his own since 2015. It shows in every project he has released since then — each one helping to construct his legendary status. More Love Less Ego is a culmination of that effort. It is fine art.

Frankly, Wizkid has nothing to prove to anyone at this point. He is everyone’s Daddy. However, the title of his album weighs into the rollouts, and in a fascinating way:

First, Wiz postpones his release date by one week to pay respect to his fellow Afrobeats co-star, Davido over the unfortunate demise of his son. Secondly, in that time of wait, he rearranges the tracklist of the album to reflect that he has more love and less ego.

Tracks like Biggest Bird, Flowers, Confidence, Sara, and For Me were taken out and replaced by other tracks that were more in tune with his direction.

The final product is an exquisite body of work that celebrates his influence and impact on the genre. It is important to note that Wiz is a victim of his own success.

Everyone expects much from him, and when he does his ‘thing’, it is seen as the bare minimum by us here. For instance, Made In Lagos didn’t do any numbers here compared to what it did outside our shores. Basically, he is Afrobeat’s Messi.

I feel the same thing might happen with MLLE.

The album progresses, albeit slowly, and really picked up with Slip N Slide. Wiz has an acquired taste for heavy production which he leans on for most part of the album. His pen game hasn’t changed much. I mean, Wiz is Wiz. But ‘she tell me say’ is non-existent in this project.

Noticeably, the features brought their best to elevate the appeal of the project.
